Inspired by our area's maritime history and influence, Thomas Brandl & Joe Filipowski launched TWBW in 2015 to reach out to local youth and teach them to build wooden boats by hand. While they do learn the technical skills involved in the process, our intentions are not to foster boatbuilders, but young adults who are prepared and able to take on the world and connect by either attending college, a trade school, or jump right into the workforce by using the soft skills they learn with us including clear communication, how to work as a team, increased confidence and more.
